Our Products

Our products are "Made by Hand and Backed by Science".  We don't have any robots and we don't outsource any of our production - we sort materials, compost, and package our products by hand.  We have a soil scientist and several licensed composters on staff to oversee our daily operations.  We regularly conduct internal and external product testing to ensure that our products are optimized for growing.

Our products are available for pick-up from our farm and pick-up locations.  We also deliver throughout MD, DC, Northern VA, Southern PA and DE.

Organic Worm Castings

Organic Worm Castings are one of the best natural materials on the planet for growing plants.  It's the platinum of soil amendments.  And just like hard working miners toiling for Platinum, we work really long and hard to make some great worm castings.

It starts outdoors in our organic aerated static pile compost piles.  After 3-4 weeks of composting, we dig into those piles and pull out some partially composted material for our worm bins.  Our piles have been at 140F for at least 72-hours straight, killing any pathogens or weed seeds in the material.

The material is mixed with Wawa Coffee Grounds and spends a couple of months in our worm bins where thousands of worms work their magic.  Finally, we harvest, screen to 1/4", and bag the material for your use.

These organic worm castings are an amazing soil amendment.  It can be mixed with topsoil and used as a potting mix.  It can be soaked in water and make compost tea which can then be applied as a liquid fertilizer.  Use it in your garden, use it indoors, or add it to your flowers.

Bio-Charge

Bio-Charge is blend of wood biochar, compost, and coir. It contains a minimum of 20% biochar that is charged with liquid fish fertilizer and inoculated with endo and ecto-mycorrhizal fungi. We also include our compost and worm castings to provide an additional boost of nutrients and beneficial microorganisms. Finally, we mix in coconut coir to get the nutrient levels to a good balance for the mycorrhizal fungi, and the extra volume makes it easier to measure and spread the product consistently over a large area.

This product is great for working into your garden beds, or giving your potted plants or seed starting mix a bio-boost.

Ingredients: Coconut coir, worm castings, wood biochar, fish emulsion, endomycorrhizal fungi.

Directions: Work a ¼ inch layer of biochar into soil for a light application, or a ½ inch layer for a heavier application. 1 cu ft bag covers 25-50 sq ft.

Bio-Organics Mycorrhizal Landscape Inoculant

This is an all-purpose fungal inoculant that we use in our own Bio-Charge and Super Soil. It contains both endo and ecto-mycorrhizal fungi, so it can be used on either your annual veggies and flowers, your perennial shrubs and tress, and your lawn.

A little goes a long way. You only need one teaspoon of inoculant per linear foot of garden space, and this half-pound jar contains approximately 70 teaspoons. If you’re buying a yard of our square foot garden mix or garden soil, consider adding this on to your order to improve the microbial life of your garden. For more information on mycorrhizal inoculants, visit https://bio-organics.com/.

$22 per ½ lb jar.

Coarse Vermiculite

Horticultural super coarse vermiculite is permanent, clean, odorless, non-toxic, sterile and pH neutral. It will not deteriorate, turn moldy or rot. It is typically mixed with soil, peat, and/or compost to create great raised bed and container growing mixes.

Horticultural super coarse vermiculite is a natural ‘wicking’ mineral. The vermiculite granules attract and hold ammonium, potassium, calcium and magnesium needed for the growing plants. Additionally, the vermiculite/peat mixture provides excellent aeration and retention of plant food and moisture.

This coarse vermiculite is recovered from a local company that receives batteries shipped in vermiculite (instead of packing peanuts).  So, this is an upcycling opportunity to put it to work in your garden!  Great for raised beds and container growing.

Raised Bed Mix aka Square Foot Gardening Mix

This container mix is great for anyone using raised beds, especially those doing Square Foot Gardening. It is a blend of compost, peat moss and organic rice hulls.

This is THE recipe prescribed for Square Foot Gardening, so if you were looking to make your own, you might want to save yourself some trouble and buy it pre-mixed!  Please note that this mix no longer contains coarse vermiculite due to a global shortage.  Our growth trials have shown rice hulls to be a great substitute.

Potting Mix

Our Organic Potting Mix is great for indoor and outdoor potted plants.  Our mix is a light, airy and will retain water; allowing plenty of room for roots to move around.

Our Potting Mix is a blend of our organic compost, peat moss and organic rice hulls.  Our mix is much lighter than dirt, and won’t get compacted down.  This allows seeds and small plants to become more established and allows for strong root systems to develop.  Please note that this mix no longer contains coarse vermiculite due to a global shortage.  Our growth trials have shown rice hulls to be a great substitute.

Topsoil

Our topsoil is a carefully tested blend of our compost and ground soil that is screened to 1/2". It's great for increasing your soil depth for in-ground gardens and lawns, and for filling in low spots in your yard. You could also use it for lasagna gardening or no-dig gardening.

Please note: soil has a natural tendency to get compacted in containers, which will result in poor aeration and poor drainage. We do not recommend using our topsoil in containers or deep (taller than 8-12 inches) raised beds. See our FAQ page for affordable options for filling a raised bed.

Our Bagged Topsoil comes in 1 cubic foot reusable poly bags.   Feel free to repurpose them or send back to us and we'll use them again.

Non-Compost Items

Over the years, we have come across opportunities to keep some non-compost items out of the landfill.  The items below are great for use around the garden, or maybe you can find other uses for them.

Burlap Coffee Bags - $1 each - OUT OF STOCK

We know, its kind of a random thing for a compost operation to have.  But, we work with a coffee roaster who gets coffee delivered in these bags - so we though we should try to find a home for them.  They are made from burlap and are 27" x 38".  If you want to use them at home, in the garden, or for a cool craft project then grab a few.

55 Gallon Plastic Drums

NON-Food Grade Barrels  - They used to hold soap, ink, or other chemicals. They may not have been rinsed out.  We do not recommend them for holding potable water, rain barrels, or any uses where the water will be consumbed by plants or animals/people.  We have blue drums available right now. There are two 2" screw caps on top. $10 each.

Available for pick-up in Aberdeen, MD

IBC Totes - $50 Each
